Kicking off my Sip & Savor Summer series with the cocktail that practically is summer in a glass. This summer, it’s not just the sun that’s blazing—it’s the return of a classic: the Aperol Spritz. Light, vibrant, and effortlessly chic, Aperol is the drink that says I know how to enjoy life, without even trying too hard.
Let’s be honest: it’s Martha Stewart Girl Summer, and you better believe she’s sipping something orange, fizzy, and fabulous. But it’s not just Martha. Everyone with taste (and a patio) is raising a glass of Aperol. It is perfect for hot days when you want something refreshing but still stylish.
It’s bright, slightly bitter, with just enough sweetness to keep things interesting—basically, the drink equivalent of a flirty wink across the pool. Whether you’re brunching, beaching, or just sitting in front of a fan romanticizing your life, an Aperol Spritz is the mood. Serve it over ice with Prosecco, a splash of soda water, and a fresh orange slice, and you’re golden.
So this summer? Go full glam. Channel Italian coast energy. And pour yourself an Aperol Spritz. Because summer should be bold, bubbly, and just a little bit bitter.
♦ Classic Aperol Spritz ♦
Ingredients:
3 oz Prosecco
2 oz Aperol
1 oz soda water (club soda or sparkling water)
Ice
Orange slice, for garnish (do not skip the orange! The scent of the orange as you drink is part of the whole experience).
Instructions:
Fill a wine glass generously with ice.
Add Prosecco first, then Aperol, followed by a splash of soda water. (The order helps maintain the bubbles!)
Gently stir once or twice—just enough to mix.
Garnish with a fresh orange slice.
Optional twist:
Add a green olive for a Venetian-style variation!
Like a dryer version? Try using brut or extra brut champagne instead of prosecco.

Tip: An easy way to remember the ratio of ingredients is 3-2-1 (3 parts Prosecco, 2 parts Aperol, 1 part soda).
